Old Men and Pouring Rain is an intriguing who-dunnit with a surprise at every corner. Unlike other crime dramas, Old Men and Pouring Rain examines the long term effects of a tragedy set in the year 1948. Decades later the story is told through the eyes of Ethan Thomas, nephew of the murder victim. Ethan is shocked when he is contacted by a grandfather he thought had long since passed away. His grandfather, Gordon James Ebertz, has secrets to reveal. This is a story of crime, greed, and corruption. More than anything it is a story of one man who needed the answers to his past.
Set in beautiful northern Michigan right after World War II, Old Men and Pouring Rain is alive with a vivid cast of characters. The reader is introduced to a time in American history when war time racketeers were reorganizing black market operations in the U.S.

I am giving this two stars because I didn't really hate it (one star) but I am sorry I wasted my time. The book is hard to follow (it jumps around); has too much hard luck (I read fiction to be entertained, not to be made sad!); and has far too many grammatical errors. Apparently, it was not edited after being typed. Examples: "...they felt broke in spirit..." Should be broken. "...the film had went missing..." (should be gone missing.) "...never have went..." and I could go on. Please writers, have someone who does know proper grammar edit your manuscripts. Poor grammar in published material encourages poor grammar in readers, and some other people don't know the correct word. If you use the wrong one, it sends the wrong message. GET AN EDITOR!!!

Old Men and Pouring Rain edition by Delaware Underware Project Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Would like to have known the characters a little better,a little deeper, but still it was a pretty good read.
I love period pieces, and adding a crime drama to a sliver of the underbelly of American history, and I'm hooked. Enough twists and turns to keep you turning the pages, and good enough to make me sad once it was over. Powerful story. I will give it some time, and re-read this one.
This book was a fast read, I had a hard time putting it down. Some twists and turns, just old fashion murder.
Good read. I liked the way the end tied up everything, gave you more of an understanding. I do recommend this book.
Not for me.
Thiss book had me hooked in the first chapter. it kept me interested with all it's twists and turns. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.
